Two DONE!!!

My original goal was to be done with Halloween costumes by Saturday. My new goal is to be finished tomorrow. I think I can make it. I just have to finish the mermaid skirt now. YAY ME!

How cute is my little clown?! Even with a double ear infection.

Trauma

It seems like Munchkin is more accident prone than the other kids. When she was about 2, she pulled the TV down on her head...twice. She is always running into things, tripping over nothing and just generally banging herself up. But Sunday was a doozy. She was putting her clothes away, standing on Squirt's bed like always, when her drawer fell out. She lost her balance and did a header into the empty drawer hole. She got medicine, bandaids and to watch a show in Mom and Dad's bed.

About an hour later, she was ready to go to church...where everyone asked her what happened to her nose.
She also got 3 scratches by her eye. The boy came up later and asked what happened to her and I told him that Wolverine got her. He didn't believe me.

Squirt and Her Bear

Squirt has a bear. Her favorite bear. In fact, her favorite thing in the whole world! When we are at home, her bear stays in her bed. It only comes out in time of catastrophe or in time of laundry.

This morning was a time of catastrophe. Thumbelina was spinning the two littles in the computer chair. Both were laughing until Squirt flew out and landed right on her face.

***Bear to the rescue!***

And then the phases of bear begin:

Phase one: She sees bear

Phase two: She hugs bear
Phase three: She holds bears hand while sucking both her thumbs.
More fun bear facts:
1. We take bear along anytime she is left with a sitter. Just in case.
2. When bear gets washed, she waves to him when he goes into the washer and says, "Bye Bear!" But when we dry him, you can hear his chime as he goes round and round. So she will walk back and forth by the dryer saying, "bear? bear? Bear?"
3. Although we have about a million other Carebears, she doesn't like any of them. Sometimes she will snuggle a small pink chenille one, but it's not the same.

So Funny!

I don't remember the other kids being this much fun around 18 months---except maybe Munchkin!
Squirt is definitely her own person, breaking all the rules the other three set. Hubby took her to Nursery yesterday and she loved it.

She just wants to be one of the big kids. She wanders to the playroom all the time and will just sit and watch the kids play. She is so mellow--when she's not teething. She's so fun!

Coulda Been...

I got a cold sore on Monday. For those of you who have never been blessed with cold sores, they hurt. And they ooze and they scab over and they are just plain nasty! This is my 5th one in about 2 years. So as soon as I felt it Monday morning, I started with the remedies.

6 days later, it is past the hurting/oozing stage and on its way to being healed. Way faster than the 15 days last time.

It coulda been the x plague that I rubbed on it 6 times a day...and drank once a day.

It coulda been the $20 itty-bitty tube of abreva that I bought and rubbed on 5 times a day.

It coulda been the Lysine that my friend brought over and I took once a day.

I don't know for sure what it was, but you can bet that the next time I get one, I will be using this exact same cocktail!

Dear...

...body,

Cold sores suck. Stop getting them!

...makers of Abreva,
$20 for a tiny, itty-bitty tube? Really!??! You should be ashamed of yourselves.

...Squirt's teeth,

Come out already and stop torturing her!

...Munchkin,

Stop waking up at 6am!

...husband,

Maybe we could go on a date sometime?

...laundry,

how about you learn to fold yourself!

Sincerely,
me

Unexpected

Today we went to the doctor. An ENT, to be precise. He was going to look at the boy's nose. You see, my sweet boy has been getting regular nosebleeds since he was about 3. Last Wednesday, he had one at school, one at Karate, and one at midnight. All of them lasting at least 20 minutes. We thought about cauterization.

So last Thursday I called the doctor. Our appointment was for 2:15 this afternoon. I was putting the two littles in the car when the boy and his sister walked home from school. As soon as the boy saw me he remembered what we had to do. He started freaking out. There were tears, there were threats, pleading...I got it all!

More freakage from the car to the office. Then again walking back to the room. The doctor came in and checked.

"We could do it right now," the doctor said.

Wanna see a freak-show?

End result---we got one nostril cauterized with minimal freaking. I just hope that one was the main problem.
